Chilly reception

It's another wet, chilly morning with snow falling in the hills. My brain refuses to wake up. What I wouldn't give to crawl back under the covers and sleep. Until summer.

Thank God it's Friday.

TGIF

I'm so ready for the weekend. And Saturday's Powerball drawing of $250 million.

It would be great to wake up Sunday and start planning in earnest on how I will be spending my immediate retirement.

TGIF

Thankfully, it's Friday, but I'm not looking forward to this holiday weekend as much as usual.

New Year's Day has long been my favorite holiday. I can tend to be a bit of a pessimist, but I love the start of a new year because it is filled with so much optimist and hope. It's the one time of the year that I have had a chance to screw things up yet.

Well, except this year I have no plans for celebrating the new year. So if anyone has any suggestions I could use then. I'm not so good at solo planning. And the friends I'm most accustomed to celebrating a new year with are many miles away.

What the hell is there to do in Salem on New Year's Eve?

Wasting away

So, I spent my Friday night playing around with some online stuff. I'm getting more and more involved with my employer's Web site, so I played with a few things tonight, which then inspired me to play with the blog a little, so I build a syndication "ad" for Digital Fishwrap to go on the side rail.

It's probably silly to advertise my own site on my own site, but I was playing, and learning some things about using some photo editing software I haven't used for many years and many versions.

By the way, if you don't recognize the waterfall in the Fishwrap ad, that's Multnomah Falls, which is located east of Portland in the Columbia Gorge.

So, I was playing with software and lost all track of time. A little bit ago I looked up, noticed it was after midnight and I still hadn't had dinner or taken a nap, or gone out for a few beers, which were all things I planned to do with my Friday night.

So, my great idea for a blog post will have to wait. I'm too tired and hungry to spend any more time in front of a computer today. I hope the toast and jam I had just a few minutes ago will tide me over until morning. I am out of food in the hours, and too wiped to go in search of sustenance.
I'm off to Portland in the morning to see the new niece, and maybe sample a few beers at the Oregon Brewers Festival.

It's the little things

I got a call a while ago from my boss. I was supposed to meet her and a job candidate for lunch today. She was calling to tell me that got canceled. So I don't have to go in to work early today.

This is a good thing. So, I'll work on a few more chores here before heading to work.

Oh God, how lame am I? I really need a life. Well, at least I'm meeting up with some friends this weekend.

In the meantime, check out some of the links in the BlogRoll. There are some lives well lived, or at least well told, there.

Finally Friday

It's Friday, and that should be a good thing. But it feels more like a Monday. It's raining again. And all things considered, I'd rather crawl back into bed and just wait for the day to be over.

Because it's raining, the roof has started leaking again. But I did report the leak to the apartment manager. She said the roofer won't be able to come out until next week. But it's in their hands now.

No, it hasn't been a good week. Fortunately there's only one more work day of it left, but unfortunately even that feels like a bit much.

TGIF

It's Friday, and not a moment too soon.

Working the weekend makes the week seem so long.
